Transitional Living

Youthworks provides a transitional living program for at-risk homeless young adults (18-21), often in collaboration with the local housing authority. Subsidized apartments are available for youth eligible for transitional housing and supporting services. A program fee is charged, with a portion used to provide supervision and a portion returned as a “grubstake” at the time of transition. Program clients receive a comprehensive range of services including:

* bed and bath packets,
* household goods,
* food commodities and food pantry donations,
* counseling,
* emancipation preparation,
* employment and education assistance,
* transportation assistance and other supportive services facilitating the transition to independence.

Youthworks also works with homeless youth not living in the apartments by providing individual and group support to develop emancipation skills including:

* job interviewing,
* budgeting,
* purchasing a vehicle,
* health insurance,
* health issues, and
* credit counseling.

Youthworks will also provide counseling, crisis intervention, case management and the aforementioned services (food, clothing, transportation, etc) to youth not living in Youthworks apartments. Assistance with school supplies, fees, and tutoring is also available for all homeless youth.
