Youthworks operates diversion programs for adjudicated and at-risk youth referred by the Juvenile Courts in Bismarck & Fargo and on an outreach basis in Jamestown, Valley City and Wahpeton. The diversion programs provide counseling, crisis intervention, family mediation as an alternative to formal processing, and probation, provided by the Juvenile Court. Supporting services are also available and include anger management and parenting education. In Bismarck and Fargo peer support and/or cross age mentors, and after-school tutoring is available. Case plans are developed based on the needs of both the parents and the youth. The goals of the program are to keep youth out of the juvenile justice system, to maintain youth in their homes and in school. Family Counseling can be provided through the Youthworks’ Family Counseling Program.
