Day Treatment Program (Bismarck)
Day Treatment has been added to Youthworks’ Education and Support Center, building off of the existing Out-of-School Suspension Program and middle school after-school Turnabout Program. The Day Treatment Program is unique in that it offers a full day of services assisting youth with academic and behavior problems as well as helping youth transition back into the community and school after an out-of-home placement.
Services provided through the Day Treatment Program include tutoring, behavior assessment, homework assistance, professional assessment, individual counseling, family counseling, and mentoring services. Also, the program emphasizes skill development, including study skills, time management, problem solving, decision making, anger management, parenting adolescents, peer pressure, and codependency, etc. All students involved in the Day Treatment Program work under a treatment plan developed by the staff team.
Students are referred to the Day Treatment Program by Bismarck/Mandan schools or a custodial agency. In the case of school referral, the school must agree to participate in the treatment planning. Program hours are 8:30am-3:15pm during the regular school calendar year. In some cases, students may stay until 5:45pm for after-school supervision. Morning snacks and noon meals are provided by Youthworks.
